In short/TLDNR: go elsewhere. You will pay less for the same (or better) experience.

Tierras Vivas contracted my tour to another company. TV did not tell me this and Did Not book the same level of accommodation for which I paid.

TV did not share my dietary restrictions with the new company (no lactose.rather a big deal when bathrooms aren't readily available).

I was with a group of 15 people, TV website (where I booked) says max group of 6.

I was given a Coleman tent that was too small for a 5'9" (176cm) woman.

According to the TV website (where I booked), I was promised but Did NOT Receive: a duffel bag for my belongings, hiking poles, thermal blanket, pillow, air mattress, poncho, t-shirt, biodegradable soap, laundry service, access to oxygen. Don't say it's included when it isn't. I could have brought many of these things and was left rather uncomfortable from the lack of them.

Furthermore, TV promised toilet tents- They're apparently Not Even Allowed on the Inca Trail- there are public toulets at the camp sites which are (understandably) varying degrees of disgusting. Just don't say it's included when it isn't.

TV site says tips are included- they are NOT. A $20 USD tip is needed for the Porters (I was going to anyway, and I also tipped my guides) - don't say it's included when it isn't.

I was not dropped at my hotel after the trek, but instead the group was left 2 blocks from Plaza de Armas to fend for ourselves (with my extra belongings for which I had no bag.).

Lastly, I requested to book Huayna Picchu. TV said yes then.just didn't book it. Fortunately I was to pay for it in person, so at least I didn't get scammed for that extra $80 cost.

Save yourself money and frustration. Book elsewhere.

(NOTE: The team I trekked with was great! They provided excellent service. They did all they could to make up for what TV promised, going above and beyond- they even made me a birthday cake and I am grateful to them for the experience!)

We had a wonderful experience doing the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu with this company. Very well organized and Juan de Dios was a great guide. We recommend you book with them.

Had the best experience. Our tour guide Ruben was the best, so friendly and informative. A brilliant experience all round. Ruben had great knowledge about Machu Picchu's history and answered any questions that we had. Food was delicious and accommodation was really nice and comfortable with a lovely breakfast before we set off on day 2 of our 2 day trip. Would highly recommend and if you get Ruben as your tour guide that's a bonus!

We just completed the Inca Trail 4D/3N tour with Tierras Vivas and had a great time. We were a group of 6 people, had 8 porters, 1 cook, 1 assistant cook and a tour guide. Our tour guide Wilian was very caring and knowledgeable. He explained to us all the details about the Inca sites, including the different theses where there exists more than one. Andres served us with excellent food creations, including food carvings and a cake. The porters were running the trail and made sure that we always found a ready to sleep tent. We didn't have to care for anything other than our day packs.

This is a first rate company. I highly recommend using their services. Our guide was Henry Daniel Vargas. He was very knowledgeable and was more than happy to share his knowledge. The chef was Andres. He prepared excellent and nutritious meals. I can't say enough how much we enjoyed our 8 day hike. Tierra Vivas exceeded our expectations

Totally recommend this tour company!

Tierras Vivas created the most amazing, memorable, and life-changing experience to help us celebrate our final trip with our teenage son before he leaves the home! We loved meeting with Tierras Vivas briefly a day prior to the trip to get the details about what we would and wouldn't need on the trip and what special rules there were on the trail and at Machu Picchu!

Our tour guide, Alibeths, was fabulous! She has a super positive attitude and really knows her Incan history! All of this came in handy on our 1st day: the scenic Inca Trail hike! The bus ride was uneventful. The train ride was so beautiful through the mountains. On our hike, the views and the altitude were absolutely breathtaking! It was very helpful to have a tour guide who was truly focused on our experience. We were able to travel at our pace and have as structured of an experience as we wanted.

Alibeths chose a perfect place for dinner in the quaint and charming Aguas Calientes, where we also stayed overnight. The meal and the hotel were included in the price which we absolutely loved. That way we only had to worry about picking a good tour company, and they handled the rest!

We stayed at a beautiful, clean hotel which had breakfast included. The hotel had beautiful views along the river and tucked in the mountains!

Our second day was spent at Machu Picchu! What else is there to say? Having Alibeths as a guide really helped us a lot, because there are so many rules and potential dangers that we didn't even have to worry about. We were able to focus fully on Machu Picchu and the unique history behind one of the 7 wonders of the world!

We fully, whole-heartedly recommend Tierras Vivas for this amazing tour. We also recommend Alibeths as a guide. The guide element is super important, because your guide can really set the tone for your entire trip. Alibeths is smart, knowledgable, truly loves the outdoors, and really set the tone for our amazing trip!

Our tour guide Wilbert was absolutely amazing and made this tour 100% better. He knew everything and was able to answer any questions we had. During our mountain hike, we passed by many different plants, some we had never seen before. He knew all their uses, modern and ancient, and their history! He was very accommodating any time we had a problem. During any breaks we had, he would tell us stories about the Inca and about his history. He gave the tour a very personal feel that I know we all appreciated. In the end, all I can say was this was an absolutely amazing tour and Wilbert was an amazing guide!

Trip of a lifetime!

During the booking process and arrival to Cusco the communication and response from Tierras Viva's was excellent.

My husband and I completed the 4 day Cachiacata Trek or Inca Quarry Trail and were not disappointed. The trip seemed quite expensive for us, but when you break down costs and consider we ended up on a private tour, and the service we were provided it was well worth the $$$.

Our guide Jennifer met with us two nights before to provide us with important information for packing etc and the whole trip went by without any problems.

Jennifer and the team, trainee guide Yuben, our chef Matias and our horseman Yusevio his dog Brandon and 3 excellent horses ensured we had a safe comfortable journey.

The explanations by Jennifer and Yuben were excellent as was their English, what really shone through was their passion and knowledge about the area and the ancient culture of the Incas.

We definitely struggled a bit fitness wise and probably did not do enough training before the trek, let alone trekking at altitude but Jennifer's positive attitude and good advice ensured we remained positive and thoroughly enjoyed our journey. "Everything is possible" being a favourite quote.

If you plan on doing this trip we recommend listening to yours guides advice, and taking it at your own pace. We ended up using walking poles which were a lifesaver! Make sure you take a good down jacket too!

It was a luxury to carry the bare minimum and arrive to a set up camp everyday, coca tea in bed in the morning and amazing (sumac!) meals. We enjoyed learning a bit about the different culture and experiences of the team as well and have definitely made new friends!
We were so blessed on this journey and will never forget it!

Thanks to Jennifer, Yuben, Matias and Yusevio for making it! And Tierras Vivas for employing experienced well trained freelancers.

My husband and I booked the private 2-day Machu Picchu tour for part of our honeymoon trip and it was definitely the highlight! Booking was smooth and the guide, Cesar, came to our hotel the night before and made sure we had everything in order. He assisted me with a minor hiccup. I changed my name since I booked the tour so my passport was different. He advised I print out a copy of my old one and explained to the security/employees the situation for me. On the tour he was happy to let us go at our own pace and was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited. I would recommend this group without hesitation!

We booked the 4 day/3night classic Inca trail hike with Tierras Vivas. The night before, we met our guide Adner and we went over expectations for the trip. The next morning a van picked us up early and drove us to the start of the trail. Adner was very knowledgeable and accommodating on our hike. He had good insight on what's to come in the trail. Porters are definitely taken care of, each one had to weigh their packs before starting the hike. It seemed to me that they generally liked each other's company. The food that Joseph cooked was excellent! Can't say enough with our experience. Thank you. Ask for Adner as your guide.

Visiting Machu Picchu through Tierras Vivas was one of the best decisions we made for our honeymoon in Peru. Everything went smoothly traveling to and from Machu Picchu. Our guide, Ana Maria, was spectacular. She was so patient with us as we took hundreds of pictures and when we got tired while hiking the Inca Trail. Whenever we asked for a picture she took one for us without hesitation. We're so excited to print these stunning pictures for our wall at home.

Ana Maria was extremely knowledgeable about the Inca people and the trail. She was always happy to provide an explanation of the current theories on any building or religious practice of the Inca people. She was thoughtful and always asked if we were doing well and if we had any questions.

Hiking the Inca trail through Tierras Vivas was a memorable experience for all the right reasons!

Incredible experience hiking to Machu Picchu. I booked the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 2 days, the tour was well organized and the food was delicious. The guide Alvina was very helpful and had a lot of knowledge about Machu Picchu. Also Edwin was always on the lookout of us and he answered our e-mails quickly. Thanks Tierras vivas for the great experience.

Inca Trail 2 days Hike

I did the 2 day Inca Trail hike to Macchu Picchu with a friend of mind, and the entire experience totally blew me away and completed exceeded my expectations. Tierras Vivas was easy to communicate with via email to plan our trip, confirm our pick-up location, and generally made the experience headache free.

What made the experience even better was our private tour guide Jennifer. She was incredible. Jennifer met us at our hotel in Cusco to brief us on what to bring and the experience, laid out the whole trip itinerary, and answered our questions. At every step of the way she was on-time, professional, friendly, and helpful. As native English speakers, it was great to have Jennifer who speaks exceptional English, and who helped us with our Spanish throughout the journey. She knew everything about the trek, pointed out major flora / fauna, and was a huge part of making this such an awesome experience.

I would highly recommend going on this trek with Tierras Vivas, and if you can, try to get Jennifer as your guide!

Cesar and Ruben fan club!

Tierras Vivas surpassed our expectations for a once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience! Cesar and Ruben were amazing guides and our crew was perfect. I would recommend the Company to anyone looking to see the Inca Trail.

All the equipment was great; the food was probably too good and plentiful; the commentary / education was amazing; pickup / all explanations were clear; and the company brings together truly awesome / adventurous people with it's offering / price point.
